This project was a school assignment. We got the assignment to design an interactive installation for the Crossing Border Festival in The Hague.
The Crossing Border Festival is an annual festival focusing on new pop music acts and literature.

Our team had to take care of the decoration and cohesion at the festival and thus combines atmosphere with functionality.

We made several benches for the festival site where you can sit, wait, rest, drink and chat. Pieces of text have been laser cut from the wood of these benches, which are inspired by the work of the various artists who performed at Crossing Border 2012. These texts are illuminated with LED strips.

A small interaction has been added to the banks. The more people sit on the couch, the brighter it gives off light and therefore the better the texts can be read for bystanders.
